Using a dimmer with standard bulbs can also save electricity by dimming. A dimmer also makes the bulbs last longer. Dimming the light 20% will make the bulb last 50 to 60 % longer. All of these methods will save money. Programmable thermostats can save a lot in heat and A/C costs. Ceiling fans can reduce cooling in the summer and heat in the winter. Attic fans can help with cooling costs in the summer and help lengthen the life of roof shingle. Samll things can add up to big savings.
